Dr. Ahmed Elwakeel

Dr. Ahmed Elwakeel has been working in the field of cardiothoracic surgery for 7 years.After finishing college as one of the top 5 in his class, he worked as a resident in cardiothoracic surgery department, in Kasr Al Ainy, Cairo University. He then became assistant lecturer, and earned his doctorate degree to become a lecturer of cardiothoracic surgery. He has been trained at Magdi Yakoub Foundation (Aswan Heart Center) in 2011, and then returned to Cairo to finish his postgraduate studies. Dr. Elwakeel worked in Kasr Al Ainy, as well as many private hospitals, including New Kasr Al Ainy Teaching Hospital, Nile Badrawy Hospital and Al-Salam International Hospital.

Dr. Elwakeel specialized in adult cardiac surgery, coronary artery bypass surgeries both on pump, and off pump, cardiac valve surgeries, treatment of endocarditis and aortic aneurysm repair. Dr. Elwakeel performed these procedures regularly and in high volumes during his tenure in Kasr Alainy.

He is also well trained in pediatric cardiac surgery, in Abu El Reesh offered management to a wide variety of congenital heart defects, including atrial septal defects, ventricular septal defect repair, tetralogy of fallot repair and performed different shunt procedures. He has also dealt with different chest surgical conditions, including, lung and pleural biopsy procedures, lung resection and surgical treatment of thoracic malignancies.

Dr. Ahmed Elwakeel teaches junior cardiac surgeons, principal cardiothoracic techniques and the basics of cardiothoracic surgery at the Faculty of Medicine.
